There are many ways that you might choose to make your way through the unit. The diagram and suggested sessions (below) will help to plan your learning through the Operate and Online Information System unit. The sessions outlined below are a suggestion only - you may have another way that you prefer to study.




Session 1 - Access Online Information - Pink Tiles

This includes:

• Identifying Information Requirements
• Identifying sources of information and access the correct online information systems
• Selecting appropriate search methods for the type of information required
• Using key words and phrases to search for required information
• Using the features of the system to access the full range of required information
 

A few points to think about for your blog:

- How much do you know about an online information system? What type of online information system do you use at work?
-  What may your customers request information on?
- What question would you ask a client or customer to be able to interpret information that the customer will need to book a holiday or an event?

Session 2 - Check and download information - Aqua Tiles

This includes:

• Check that the information covers the required scope and purpose
• Conducting further searches if information is insufficient
• Selecting the required information
• Placing an order for any information that must be purchased
• Downloading and saving information according to system procedures
• Organising information in a suitable format for use
• using information according to copyright and intellectual property requirements

A few points to think about for your blog:

 - What keys words or phrases would you use if you were searching for Travel, Event or Hospitality information
- What is an alternate way of searching for information if your first search is insufficient?

- You have been using Symbaloo now for a few weeks, list 3 features that you have found to be useful when using the system
- If you were a travel agent booking an 'all inclusive' holiday to Africa for a customer, list 2 purcashes you would make on their behalf
- If you were an event coordinator booking a wedding in a marquee for a customer, list 2 purchases you would make on their behalf
